Quienes somosLa Organización Internacional para las Migraciones (OIM) forma parte del Sistema de las Naciones Unidas y es la organización intergubernamental líder que promueve desde 1951 una migración humana y ordenada para beneficio de todos, con 174 Estados Miembros y presencia en más de 100 países. La OIM tiene presencia en Panamá desde 2007.

Nuestro TrabajoComo organización intergubernamental líder que desde 1951 promueve la migración humana y ordenada, la OIM juega un rol clave en cuanto a apoyar el logro de la Agenda 2030 por medio de diferentes áreas de intervención que conectan a la asistencia humanitaria con el desarrollo sostenible. En Panamá, la OIM ofrece una respuesta integral a las necesidades humanitarias de los migrantes, los desplazados internos, los repatriados y las comunidades de acogida.

Giuseppe Loprete assumes role of Head of the Panama (Global) Administrative Centre and Chief of Mission
Panama City – On October 1, 2022, Giuseppe Loprete began his duties as Head of the Panama (Global) Administrative Centre and Chief of Mission of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Panama.
Mr. Loprete brings nearly two decades of experience in diplomacy and public service, including 15 years of service at IOM where he most recently served as Chief of Mission in Haiti.
He joined the Organization in 2007 as Associate Expert / Donor Relations Officer at the Geneva Headquarters. During his career at the Organization he has served as Chief of Mission in Niger and the Central African Republic, as well as Project Development Officer and Chief of Mission ad interim in Sri Lanka.
Prior to joining IOM, Mr. Loprete worked as a consultant for the Italian Ministry of Labour and the Italian National Institute of Statistics. He also worked as Tender Officer for a non-profit organization in the field of International Statistical Cooperation in Rome, Italy.
He holds a degree in Sociology and a Master's degree in European Studies and International Relations.
Mr. Loprete speaks Italian, English, French and Spanish.
