SSU PAC remains committed to the safety and security of all IOM staff and the protection of its assets in Central and South America and the Caribbean, throughout the organization’s 23 field locations in the region and more than 2800 staff working on projects with particular focus on missions operating in countries where various UNDSS Security Levels are in place.
The Staff Security Unit (SSU) is responsible for providing leadership on safety / security policy management and operational support to enable the safest and most effective implementation of IOM programs and activities.
Our vision is that of a world where IOM staff, offices and resources are safe and secured, thus enabling and enhancing the ability of IOM’s program delivery in the protection and well-being of migrants.
This vision will be achieved through the implementation of "effective staff and security risk management."
- Advices senior managers, program managers and decision makers within IOM on relevant safety and security policies, procedures and protocols, empower IOM personnel and further develop their security awareness and security management capacity by providing specialized trainings.
- Manages the IOM Security Funding Mechanism.
- Assists field offices in forming their own safety and security management and programs.
